“For a lot of people, 'Reflector' is hardwired to some of their greatest memories—the soundtrack to leaving school, their first kiss, their first car.”

Two weeks on from its 25th anniversary, Killing Heidi have announced the news that fans have been waiting for, detailing a national run of tour dates to celebrate debut album Reflector.

First released on March 10th, 2000, Reflector was the product of a few years of growth for the Violet Town outfit. Having risen to prominence thanks to triple j’s then-burgeoning Unearthed program, the group – featuring Ella and Jesse Hooper – had managed to infiltrate the charts thanks to classics like Weir and Mascara the year prior.

But the success was hard to understate. It hit the top of the Aussie charts and stayed there for seven weeks, it went gold, and won the band four ARIA Awards, including Best Group, Breakthrough Artist – Album, Best Rock Album, and Album Of The Year. Additionally, it became the fastest-selling Australian album up to that point.

“It’s an unlikely success story, for sure,” Ella remembers. “Sonically, it was so adventurous, we were so young, and it was such a wild-looking band for the time. But the songs connected because they’re authentic teen stories. I think that’s the hook that’s made it last. Our shows give people the chance to remember who they were during that time and reconnect with those feelings.”

Fast forward to 2025 and Killing Heidi are still as strong as ever, but not too hectic to take a moment to reflect on their roots. As part of the album’s 25th anniversary, they’re reissuing the record as part of a deluxe package on vinyl and CD, complete with demos and rarities. But that’s not all, because they’re also hitting the road for a national tour, performing the record in full while giving fans the chance to relive the band’s explosive moment of arrival.

Launching on June 20th, the tour kicks off at The Gov in Adelaide, before visiting Perth, Brisbane, and Sydney, before wrapping up in Melbourne on June 28th. Along the way, they'll also be joined by Siobhan Cotchin and Hassall (though Hassall won't be on-ground in Perth).

“The driving force now is to give people the best Killing Heidi show they may not have got in the early 2000s,” says Ella. “We’re better players now; we’ve got a killer band covering all those myriad keys and vocal parts, finally. It’s insane fun.”

Tickets to Killing Heidi’s upcoming shows go on sale from 9am on Thursday, March 27th, with pre-orders for the 25th anniversary edition of Reflector available now.
