He'll cross the ditch to treat Kiwi fans as well as his Aussie faithfuls
Grammy Award-winning US country icon Kenny Rogers has revealed that he’ll be embarking on a massive Through The Years world tour next year, and will swing past Australia and New Zealand during January and February to spend some time with his southern fans.
Taking in essential stops such as Sydney, Tamworth, Newcastle, Melbourne, Launceston, the Gold Coast, Townsville, Perth and Adelaide on this side of the ditch before making the hop to wow crowds in Christchurch and Hamilton, the American Country Music Hall Of Famer will no doubt pick up where his sold-out 2012 visit left off. Acclaimed performances in-between his Australian journeys, including an appearance at the recent Glastonbury Festival in front of a casual 130,000 screaming fans, only serve to further demonstrate that Rogers simply gets finer with age.
Of course, so too do his performances, as his seven-decade career has wrought such certifiable hits as The Gambler, Coward Of The Country, Reuben James, Lucille, Ruby Don’t Take Your Love To Town, Lady, She Believes In Me, Daytime Lovers, You Decorated My Life, and a couple fistfuls’ worth of other renowned cuts that Australian fans will no doubt be treated to when he touches down at Sydney’s Star Event Centre on January 23.
Tickets for most shows go on sale from 9am this Friday, August 1, via a variety of outlets – see the Gig Guide or check The Music App for a comprehensive list of date, venue and ticketing details.
