"Katy Perry, I challenge you to come and spend a day with me and learn first hand why your comment should NOT be streamed across the nation."

More Katy Perry More Katy Perry

Myer have confirmed they are working on removing offensive comments said by Katy Perry in a new advertisement promoting her 2018 Australian tour.

In the commercial released online yesterday, the US pop star says to her pet dog, "Let's go chase some koalas", which has been slammed by Queensland wildlife vet, Claire Madden.

Speaking to The Courier Mail, Madden said, "This is just absolute ignorance from Perry and Myer, and inappropriate on so many levels.

"Perry is a role model to so many young people, and this just destroys all the good work we do to try to encourage people not to let their dogs come into contact with koalas."

The Courier Mail have also reported that Madden, who is also in the running to feature on Network Ten's Bondi Vet programme, slammed Perry and the advertisement on social media.

"Katy Perry I challenge you to come and spend a day with me (a wildlife vet) and learn first hand why your comment should NOT be streamed across the nation," the post reads.

"Koalas attacked by dogs is one of their biggest threats and primary reasons for presenting to wildlife hospitals across Australia.

"Come visit me and you will quickly learn how adorable and precious our koalas are and how undeserving your comment is."

Myer have since announced that they are removing Perry's comment from the commercial.

"We are aware of comments in relation to Katy Perry's Witness: The Tour advertisement and a particular reference made to koalas," a Myer spokesperon said.

"We are currently removing the material which references koalas."

The news comes only days after it was reported that Perry was pictured at Sydney airport while her 'live' performance was being broadcast around the country.
