Australian music icon Kate Ceberano can add “author” to her list of achievements, as this November, she’s releasing her first-ever book.
Unsung: A Compendium Of Creativity will be released on Wednesday, 1 November, through the publishers Simon & Schuster.
Ceberano explained about her upcoming book (via Noise11): “I’m so happy to have been able to create this book,” she said in a press release.
“It’s like a small wooden chest filled with paintings, quilts, songs and stories, that I hope someone will discover and muse across it and dream about what legacy they might like to create for themselves. It’s a physical object that anchors me to an ephemeral concept.
“Life, our stories, our sense of belonging – these are my stories, but they could also be yours.”
Simon & Schuster elaborated by describing the book as having a “unique perspective” of Ceberano’s artistic processes.

The statement continued, “Kate’s autobiographical stories are lyrical and immerse the reader in her compelling creative mind and spirit. As a beloved figure in the Australian music industry, Kate Ceberano’s foray into writing showcases her versatility and creativity beyond the stage.”
Unsung was born from Ceberano’s need to create during the Covid-19 pandemic. While she was recording the My Life Is A Symphony album with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Covid halted those works and so, she was restless once again. “And so, with characteristic passion, abundance and joy, Kate liberated her unsung songs.”

Ceberano’s debut book release follows My Life Is A Symphony hitting the Top 10 of the ARIA Albums Chart a few weeks ago.
The album debuted at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart and #2 on the Australian Albums Chart. My Life Is A Symphony is Ceberano’s 17th ARIA Top 50 album, including albums with her Septet, I’m Talking and Wendy Matthews. Ceberano has had seven Top 10 albums as a solo artist, including Brave, which peaked at #2 in 1989.
“Celebrating at Ceberano/Rogers household tonight with a lamb roast….caught mid-mouth-full with unexpected news - HOLY Shiiiiiiiiiit,” Ceberano wrote on Facebook. “Now we’re too excited to finish dinner”!
