Jimmy Barnes Will Be Out Of Hospital For Christmas

Barnsey is coming home for Christmas!

Jane Barnes, the wife of Aussie icon Jimmy Barnes, confirmed the happy news today (Dec. 20) that the rocker would be heading home this Friday after undergoing heart surgery.

“On the 6th Day of Christmas my true love said to me … “the doctor says I can go home on Friday”. Jimmy will be home for Christmas, that’s the best present I could ever wish for ,” Jane wrote via social media.

It comes after news that the Working Class Man had made it through open heart surgery successfully “made it” through his heart surgery and is "recovering in ICU", his wife Jane confirmed last Wednesday (Nov. 13).

"Hi, it's Jane Barnes here. Sharing a couple pics on Wednesday, I'm happy to let you know that our Jimmy has made it through his surgery and is now recovering in the ICU. We're so grateful for the incredible medical team looking after him. Thank you all,” she said.

It comes after the Aussie rock icon revealed he’d be undergoing emergency open-heart surgery after his ongoing bacterial infection – for which he was hospitalised in the last week of November – spread to his heart.

"It's infected an otherwise healthy valve that was replaced some years ago due to a congenital defect, so I'll be getting open heart surgery over the next few hours to clear out this infection and put in a clean valve," the 67-year-old said.

Barnes went on to explain that the surgery “is going to take me out of action for a while”, noting his frustration: “I know lots of other people are battling even worse things but it still feels hugely frustrating. Just a few weeks ago I was the fittest I've been in decades!”

For the time being, it’s unclear what this situation means for Barnes’ upcoming tour obligations.

He added: “As you can hopefully appreciate, this has all happened very suddenly so it's going to take a few days for everyone to figure out what's going to be doable with my upcoming shows. I'm really sorry for all the inconvenience this will cause but please be patient while my team works hard to figure things out. A new plan will be announced as soon as possible.”
