Promotional duties cancelled
Legendary Australian rocker Jimmy Barnes has been ordered to rest by doctors due to complications stemming from back surgery.
The day that his latest album 30:30 Hindsight debuted atop the ARIA Albums Chart, Barnes entered hospital for the elective procedure Saturday 6 September. Subsequent setbacks have meant that he has had surgery five times in the past eight days and doctors have now advised Barnes to cancel all promotional duties to avoid further procedures.
Barnes had already cancelled a scheduled appearance on ABC TV’s Q&A program.
“30 years of back breaking work broke my back!” Barnes said.

“But seriously I’m incredibly grateful for the many messages I’ve received from fans and also the fantastic media support but I hate missing live shows more than anything and the doctors have told me very clearly that I need to rest before the start of the tour in two weeks’ time so that is my focus.”
Earlier this week Barnes had cheekily posted a photo of himself in a wheelchair out the front of a hospital after there were a number of bomb scares made to Sydney hospitals.
“Bomb scare at hospital, not panicking but anyone for brain fluid?” he wrote.
