The rap icon talks openly in the new interview.
Jay-Z has spoken candidly about his marriage to Beyoncé and past beef with Kanye West in a revealing new interview.
Appearing as the special guest on the latest episode of David Letterman's Netflix show, My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, the rap icon opened up on his infidelity in his marriage, referenced on his latest album, 4:44, and Beyoncé's 2016-released LP, Lemonade.
"For a lot of us, especially where I grew up, and [for] men in general, we don’t have emotional cues," Jay-Z said.
"Our cues are be a man, stand up, don’t cry… I want to be open, I want to have the emotional tools it takes to keep my family together.

He continued, "I have a beautiful wife who’s understanding and knew that I’m not the worst of what I’ve done.
"And we did the hard work of going to therapy. We love each other. We put in the work. This music that I’m making now is a result of things that have happened earlier.
"… I like to believe that we’re in a better place today, but still working, still communicating and growing. I’m proud of the father and the husband I am today because of all of the work that I’ve done."
Jay-Z and Beyoncé will launch their On The Run II world tour in the UK this June.
When questioned about his relationship with fellow hip hop artist Kanye West, the 48-year-old said the two are "beyond friends".
The rappers reportedly fell out in 2016 after West called out Jay-Z on stage, claiming he had no been contacted since his wife, Kim Kardashian, was a victim in an armed robbery in France.
However the beef appeared to be squashed late last year when Jay-Z confirmed the two were on speaking terms again.
"That’s my brother," Jay-Z told Letterman.
"We’re beyond friends. Like literally, my little brother is Kanye. And like your little brother, things happen sometimes.
"… We don’t come from the same mom and dad, but I’ve watched Kanye from [when he was] without an album.
"The thing that I respect about him is that he’s the same person. He [once] interrupted our studio session and stood on a table and started rapping. We were like, ‘Can you please get down’. He was like, ‘No, I am the saviour of Chicago’. He didn’t even have a record."
The new episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction is streaming on Netflix now.
