Jane Barnes Brings Date Night To Jimmy’s Hospital Bedside

Jimmy Barnes has shared an update on his time in hospital, after revealing last month that he’s battling a serious bout of bacterial pneumonia – giving fans the wholesome news that his wife Jane brought date night to him with a spectacular home-cooked meal.

“Mince, mashed tatties, neeps and pumpkin will make a Scotsman feel better,” Barnesy wrote in a post shared to Facebook over the weekend. “And yes, that’s a bottle of custard you see. Jane’s brought in a berry cobbler too. Here we are on our hospital date this Saturday night.

Smiling for a photo, the legendary Cold Chisel frontman made sure to assure us there was “a lot of partying going on”.

Barnes has kept active on social media over the past few weeks, relieving fans with regular updates to let us know he’s in good care. His recent hospitalisation sidelined him from this year’s Rock The Boat cruise, where his daughter Mahalia – as well as a cast of additional guests – filled in for his slot.

Bacterial pneumonia is one of the worst types of pneumonia to be contracted, according to a HealthDirect factsheet. But while his hospital stay has lasted much longer than he’d initially expected, Barnes is expected to make a full recovery.

Meanwhile, Barnes is enjoying a decent bit of success from the expanded reissue of his 2022 festival album, Blue Christmas, which hit shelves on November 24.
