Adele-mania continues.

It's a new year but that hasn't changed much when it comes to the ARIA Albums Chart as Adele's 25 has topped the Top 40 for a sixth straight week.

The third studio record from the UK singer which peaked at #1 in over 20 countries has finished in top spot again on the first albums chart for 2016, beating out Justin Bieber's Purpose which came in second and Taylor Swift's 1989 in third.

There wasn't a great deal of movement elsewhere on the chart, aside from Perth-based singer Troye Sivan's Blue Neighbourhood which jumped up from #26 last week to #11.

British songwriter Ed Sheeran held on to #4 with X, while fellow UK act Coldplay rounded out the top five with their latest, A Head Full Of Dreams.

There weren't any shocking results on the Singles Chart either as Biebs held on to #1 with his catchy hit Love Yourself while the only other notable movement came from Adele's Hello which climbed to #2, pushing Bieber's Sorry to #3.
