Naarm/Melbourne hardcore icons Iron Mind will be hitting the road this June and July for a long-awaited batch of headline dates.

The group will be kicking things off in Brisbane on June 13th, with an all-ages show taking place the next day. They'll repeat the feat in Melbourne the next weekend, before shows in Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, and Perth. They’ll also be joined by fellow heavy acts The Chain and Horsepower at varying dates.

Having first burst out of the gates back in 2009 with their The Sun Has Set EP, Iron Mind have since occupied a well-regarded place within the Australian hardcore scene. With albums like 2011’s Hell Split Wide Open and their 2014 self-titled effort arriving to wide acclaim, it’s been a little quiet in the ensuing decade.

While the band went from touring with names like Turnstile, Terror, No Warning, and Harm’s Way to a relatively quiet life, they’ve still been somewhat active. Alongside annual homeground shows, the band returned with new material in 2023 and have since moving towards the release of a new record. That record, Test Of The Iron Mind, will be released on June 13th

Already they’ve unveiled Solitary Realm and title track Test Of The Iron Mind, with the latter’s release accompanying news of their first headline tour in 11 years.

“The eponymous track of the record sums up who and what Iron Mind is,” explains vocalist Sam Octigan. “Test Of The Iron Mind became the record title early on in the process, as a nod to our history but looking at the topic with contemporary eyes.

“The song and title goes back to our 2008 track The Iron Mind, that has become a live show staple for us. The ‘test’ in Test Of The Iron Mind is us looking back on those original lyrics from 2008 and reflecting that the challenges don’t get easier, but with experience we can develop better tools.”
