It has thrashed all competing programs.

More INXS More INXS

In the biggest night of Australian TV for the year so far, and the first night of the 2014 ratings season in this country, the first part of the Channel Seven miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart has absolutely dominated TV ratings across the board.

The show rated an astronomical 1.974 million viewers in metropolitan areas, almost 200,000 more than the next best rating program, Seven's Sunday Night current affairs show, which preceded the INXS miniseries. It was dominant in all demographics, rating highest of all last night's programs across all age groups.

Channel Nine's competing series Schapelle could only manage 1.002 million viewers despite the timeliness of its screening, just days after it was announced the convicted drug smuggler would be granted parole from her Indonesian jail.

The INXS series has sparked a renewed interest in the superstar Aussie act, with their The Very Best compilation romping up the ARIA album charts for the past few weeks, landing in fourth spot this week.
