The Husker Du drummer reportedly lost his battle with cancer

Iconic punk identity and Husker Du member Grant Hart has passed away aged 56 following a battle with cancer.

Husker Du shared an image of the legendary musician via Facebook earlier today without a caption, which was followed by numerous outlets – beginning with Variety - reporting his passing.

Grant was a key songwriter in the band and helped shape the American alternative rock and hardcore punk scenes in the ‘80s with albums such as Flip Your Wig, which contained one of the band's biggest singles, Makes No Sense At All.

Following the band’s demise in the late ‘80s, Hart went on to have a solo career as well as playing in Nova Mob.
