We wrap-up this week's indie happenings

ON THE ROAD

Local rockers Unbroken Expanse will play a handful of shows around the country in support of their debut EP. The guys are also opening for British India at a couple of gigs. More.

Sydney rock lads Gang Of Youths have confirmed two headline shows for January. The band will perform the gigs in between their support slots for Vampire Weekend and Frightened Rabbit. Read on.

EYE ON THE CHARTS

Family trio Uncle Jed have continued to dominate the singles/EP independent labels through independent distribution chart, with three of their tracks making up the top songs of the week. Brother, Give Me Love, Just Give Me A Reason (Independent/Vitamin) came in at one, two and three respectively.

Multiple ARIA Award nominee Flume scored a debut entry in this week's chart too. His collaboration with Isabella Manfredi, The Greatest View (Future Classic/Independent) came in at number four.

Rapper Kerser's reign as the king of the top 20 albums released on independent labels through independent distribution chart has come to an end this week. Uncle Jed pushed the MC down to two with his record S.C.O.T (Kerser N Nebs Records), with their self-titled album Uncle Jed (Independent/Vitamin) moving into the top spot.

Two artists scored first-time entries in the albums chart this week as well. Soul outfit The Bamboos debuted at three with their sixth LP Fever In The Road (Pacific Theatre/Inertia), while Caulfield's Vanity (Halfcut Records/Shock) entered in at nine.

OTHER RELEASE NEWS

Roots-rock three-piece Jungal unveiled the video for their new single Wolf this week. The ladies take on a big, bad wolf who appears to enjoy a cold beer - kinda makes him less scary but you can be the judge of that.

Brisbane trio Skinwalkers dropped their latest EP Fateless last week and have just released the video to go with the title track. Watch the clip here - and you can also listen to the full EP now too.

It's been a while since we heard some fresh material from the John Butler Trio but fans have been treated to new track Only One this week. It's the first single off their forthcoming 2014 album. Hear it now.

Exciting, young hip hop artist Citizen Kay has droppeda killer new video for his ultra-cool party anthem Raise A Glass. Check it out.

Electro-lady Elizabeth Rose will release her anticipated new EP next January. Elizabeth Rose will feature five tracks including single The Good Life and the collab with fellow Sydneysiders VCS, titled Only Me. Details.

TIDBITS

ARIA Week is just around the corner and indie music company Inertia have named Glass Towers, The Delta Riggs, Apes and All The Colours as the performers for their Nothing Major party on Thursday 28 November. Details.

NSW north coast musician Bill Jacobi has won the chance to perform at both the Mullum Music Festival and Falls Festival, Byron over the coming weeks. More.

Adelaide garage rockers Bad//Dreems have taken a big step towards even bigger things in the US. Their track Hoping For has landed at 19 on the CMJ College Radio 200 Adds Chart this past week. Read on.
