EYE ON THE CHARTS

While no one's been able to shift Sheppard out of the top spot in the top 20 of AIR's singles/EP charts for independent labels with independent distribution chart with their self-titled (Independent/MGM) EP, we do have a new number two. Local boy band What About Tonight have debuted in at second with Time Of Our Lives (Nammos Beach Records). Thundamentals' newy Smile (Obese Records) entered in at five for its debut week.

Again, there were no new entries in the the top 20 albums released on independent labels through independent distribution chart this week, but there was another reshuffle of sorts with the tops spots. Chet Faker's Thinking In Textures (Opulent/Inertia) jumped from three to number one, with The Cat Empire's Steal The Light (Two Shoes/Inertia) and Big Scary's Not Art bumped down to second and third respectively.

A few artists re-emerged in the chart as well this week. Electro dance trio Rufus, who are gearing up to release their debut album Atlas, appeared at 15 with their six-track EP Blue (Gigpiglet Recordings/Inertia). Spit Syndicate's Sunday Gentleman (Obese Records), Mark Wilkinson's Hand Picked (Independent) and recent European tourists Sticky Fingers and their LP Caress Your Soul (Sureshaker/MGM) re-entered at 17, 18 and 19 respectively.
