Independent Music Awards Land New Naming Sponsor

Carlton Dry comes on board with AIR

Beer brand Carlton Dry have been named as the new naming rights sponsor for the Australian Independent Records Labels Association [AIR] Independent Music Awards, and their weekly charts.

Previously partnered with Jagermeister, the awards are the premiere national Australian music awards for independent bands and have become one of the key dates on the industry calendar.

Today Carlton & United Breweries' General Manager Andy Meldrum said, “The Australian music scene has more diverse and rich talent than ever before, and our artists are now competing on a world stage not just a local one. And we're excited to be a part of it. We believe the Australian music scene – and in particular the 'can do' passion of Aussie Independent Artists – should have an Aussie beer to support it!

“We are looking forward to a great, long partnership with AIR and in helping great new Aussie Independent artists rise and shine both here and abroad. And as one part of this, in the coming weeks we will be announcing a new AIR Award which we hope will be the new 'must win' award for Aussie bands.”

The awards will take place at Melbourne's Revolt venue once again this year, taking place Wednesday 9 October.

AIR's General Manager Nick O'Byrne added, “CUB have shown remarkable enthusiasm when it comes to working with independent music in Australia. To be working with a partner who shows this level of passion and commitment to AIR's Independent Music Awards and Charts as well as the wider independent sector is something we're really excited about.”

Awards categories include Best Independent Album, Independent Artist, genre awards and Best Independent Label.
