Byron Bay punk rockers In Hearts Wake have been named as the source of a extremely generous project aimed at support Indigenous communities by UNFD today.

The Skydancer Project was ambiguously uploaded online a few days ago, asking those interested to show their support by clocking on a picture of an eagle.

UNFD revealed the project's real intention today, In Hearts Wake donating all the proceeds from their newly released Skydancer single to grass-roots, not-for-profit groups who support native populations and their sustainability.

The organisations receiving donations include North America's Seventh Generation Fund For Indigenous Peoples, Germany's Hardcore Help that focuses on Africa, and Red Dust in Australia, these groups receiving donations during the 30 days fund raising period, starting from the launch.

The song, Skydancer, was inspired by a doco about the extremely dangerous work conditions of Native American ironworkers who are contracted to work on the incredibly tall New York City skyscrapers, however now, In Hearts Wake frontman Jake Taylor says it's built into a greater message.

“After spending some time refining our ideas we came up with what we think is the perfect method to spread a positive message,” he said.

“This new movement embodies all that is In Hearts Wake, as we aim to raise political, social and environmental awareness. We hope that this project restores, connects and inspires to set a new precedence for others. We urge everyone to get involved and be apart of the bigger picture."

Australia's Red Dust was the first organisation contacted, and aims to promote health and innovation in Australian Indigenous communities, while Seventh Generation Fund For Indigenous Peoples concentrates on the improving of life for Native American individuals in North America, and Hardcore Help provides German humanitarian aid for Kenyan communities.

Skydancer – recorded in Byron Bay - can be purchased from The Skydancer Project page, with all income donated directly to these organisations.

In Hearts Wake will also be hitting the road with The Amity Afflication throughout October. Get out there and say hi!
