Iggy, James Williamson and Scott Asheton record an album together for the first time since Raw Power.
Just weeks before they head back to Australia for a tour that takes in dates at Bluesfest, the West Coast Blues & Roots Festival and big theatre dates in Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, Iggy & The Stooges have announced they will release a brand new reocrd by the name of Ready To Die this April.
The record features Iggy Pop (of course), drummer Scott Asheton, guitarist James Williamson - who records with The Stooges for the first time since the incredible 1973 record Raw Power - and bassist Mike Watt, of Minutemen and fIREHOSE fame, who has been playing with The Stooges for the past ten years.
Iggy has said that The Stooges died with the passing of Ron Asheton at the beginning of 2009, but there is still Iggy & The Stooges, which is the name that the band has taken since Williamson rejooined the fold.
The always quotable frontman says this about releasing a new LP.

"My motivation in making any record with the group at this point is no longer personal. It's just a pig-headed fucking thing I have that a real fucking group when they're an older group they also make fucking records. They don't just go and twiddle around on stage to make a bunch of fucking money..."
Ready To Die will be released Friday 26 April through Fat Possum/Universal.
