Melbourne's famous LGBTQI+ club night POOF DOOF is set to launch in Sydney next month.

Starting from 23 November, the iconic event will take over Sydney's ivy every Saturday night, which promises to transform the George Street venue "into a fierce, fabulous and forward-thinking funhouse of dance".

Since its inception in 2011, POOF DOOF has established itself as the biggest of its kind in Australia and has hosted sets from huge names like Honey Dijon, Boris and Horse Meat Disco.

“I’ve been mincing around queer clubs in Sydney for over a decade now, but nothing quite compares to the experience offered by POOF DOOF,” General Manager Nic Holland said.

“It's one of the best gay clubs in the world with an international profile that we will take to the next level with POOF DOOF Sydney, helping fortify this city’s status as the queer mecca of the Southern Hemisphere. Our community has never seen anything like this - come one, come all.”

The opening night will feature POOF DOOF’s Melbourne residents Argonaut and drag DJ duo Jawbreakers, as well as local legends like Sveta, James Alexandr and Charlie Villa.

“Queer culture is the heart and soul of all great, progressive cities around the world. We are thrilled to partner with trailblazing gay club pioneers and together usher in a new era for Saturday nights at ivy," Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes said.

"I can’t wait to see the CBD come alive with the bright lights and big energy of POOF DOOF Sydney."
