Icehouse are postponing the band's Great Southern Land 2022 - The Concert Series show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in Melbourne this Saturday, 19 November, as singer Iva Davies has tested positive for COVID-19.

Davies said in a statement, "The band and I were all looking forward to playing on Saturday to the thousands of fans who have tickets. We have very strict protocols around our travel and performance schedule, but somewhere I contracted Covid 19 despite all my vaccinations.

I am devastated to have to postpone the concert, but the impact of the infection means that I am having difficulty breathing and certainly couldn't manage to sing a full show. Rather than try to battle through and not give the concertgoers the best ICEHOUSE experience possible, we have made the extremely difficult decision to postpone until next February, by which time we will be able to deliver the full ICEHOUSE concert in good health to our Melbourne friends and fans."

The Melbourne show has been rescheduled to Saturday, 11 February 2023 - the lineup of special guests will be announced soon.

All existing ticket holders will be informed of the rescheduled date via Live Nation. Original purchases will remain valid on the new date and won't need to be exchanged.

The Icehouse shows in Brisbane on Saturday, 26 November, and Sydney on Monday, 12 December, will go ahead as scheduled.

Recently, Iva Davis revealed to The Music that David Bowie knew the words to Great Southern Land. Along with many great stories he shared, this one stuck out: "We were on stage in Hamburg, and my bass player came over to me mid-song and kinda nudged me and said, ‘Don’t look now, but Dave’s over there.’ And I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. And there was Bowie side of the stage, under a peaked cap, singing Great Southern Land along with me! I guess he’d been doing a bit of homework.

“Bowie had basically chosen us to be the support band, and I guess he happened to be in Germany and have a night off in the same place where we were playing and was checking our band out. I think our first show with him was either in Germany or Rotterdam – I’d have to go back and look at the records.”
