It’s no secret that it’s been a breakthrough year for US pop star Chappell Roan. So early in her career yet already so successful, it’s not surprising that things quickly catch up to her and she needs a break.
In this case, the Hot To Go singer needs a few days to “prioritise [her] health” after causing controversy for refusing to endorse the Democratic party leader, Kamala Harris, for the upcoming US election.
Previously, Roan has criticised the Biden-Harris administration for failing to protect LGBTQIA+ rights attacked by Republican bills and for their ongoing support for Israel during the war on Gaza that has killed more than 40,000 Palestinians (per The Guardian).
A recent TikTok video saw the star say, “Obviously fuck the policies of the right,” and accusing the left of “completely transphobic and completely genocidal views.” However, Roan confirmed that she will still vote for Harris, “but I’m not settling for what has been offered … this is not me playing both sides. This is me questioning both sides.”
The public uproar following Roan’s comments in recent weeks has likely taken a toll, and now, she’s cancelled her appearance at this weekend’s All Things Go festival in New York.
“I apologize to people who have been waiting to see me in NYC & DC this weekend at All Things Go, but I am unable to perform,” Roan wrote in an Instagram story. “Things have gotten overwhelming over the past few weeks and I am really feeling it.”

She continued, “I feel pressures to prioritize a lot of things right now and I need a few days to prioritize my health. I want to be present when I perform and give the best shows possible. Thank you for understanding. Be back soon xox.”

Earlier this week, Chappell Roan celebrated the first anniversary of the release of her debut album, The Rise & Fall Of A Midwest Princess, saying that the album changed her life “forever.”
“This has been amazing and hard and beautiful and eye opening and empowering and transformative and every emotion ever,” Roan remarked on social media. “Thank you thank you thank you for everything. Thank you for showing up for this project and believing in me.”
