The (Surry) Hills are even more alive
The organisers of this year's Surry Hills Festival have announced the second group of local acts that will be performing 26 September.
Joining the already announced NOIRE, The Stiffys, Sons of East and more are dream-pop architects I Know Leopard, reggae/funk/soul outfit Lyre Birdland, indie rockers The Civilians, singer-songwriter Lucy Lowe, Eastern European/Tango/Balkan ensemble On The Stoop, the ten-piece High Top Brass Band and soul artist Demi Louise.
Spread across the two main stages in Ward Park (11.30am - 6pm) and Shannon Reserve (1 - 10pm) in Surry Hills, the music line-up will also feature acts from the Australian Institute of Music (AIM), with a specially curated Pop Up stage that will showcase a wide variety of Sydney's emerging artists.
Embracing the theme, Stories, Love & Tales, the festival is also inviting all aspiring songsmiths to pen an original song about their love of Surry Hills, with the finalist winning a professional recording session at AIM and the chance to perform on festival day. Applications close 18 September. To apply, go to the festival website.
