Hundreds Show Up In Newtown To Be A Part Of Coldplay Video

Look how they line for you

More Coldplay More Coldplay

Oh, sure, when the world needs a band to make fun of, Coldplay are the first ones offered up for slaughter -- but the second they offer the opportunity to be in one of their music videos, everyone and their mother wants to be a part of it.

That's what happened in Newtown this morning, anyway, following the band's call-out on Twitter yesterday for extras to appear in their clip for new single A Sky Full Of Stars. The crew asked for 250 people to be at the Courthouse Hotel at 11.30am for the shoot, and they had zero problems filling that quota.

OK, so it wasn't quite that bad -- but, regardless, by 10.50 this morning, punters were being warned not to make the trip if they hadn't already.

Evidently, we have just a little more love for bona fide world-beating chart destroyers than some of us are willing to let on (and why shouldn't we?).

Coldplay will perform on The Voice on Monday, June 23 (Channel Nine, 7.30pm), as part of their current Aussie sojourn in support of recently released LP Ghost Stories.

The trip also includes a special intimate performance at the Star Event Centre tomorrow and Thursday night's sold-out show at The Enmore, which will be live-streamed across 91 Austereo stations, including digital.
