JetCult London electro-indie artist Mat Motte has come out swinging at now-defunct Aussie rock outfit Jet, calling them “dicks” and branding them the “biggest twats” he's crossed paths with.
Motte was previously the vocalist of the band Mower, who were signed to Blur guitarist Graham Coxon's label Transcopic (Coxon also produced for Mower), but has since stepped out on his own following the collapse of that outfit.
Speaking to Artrocker of his time with Mower, Motte unleashes on Jet, who were one of Australia's biggest music exports at their height.
“The biggest twats we played with were Jet,” he said, “they were a real rock and roll cliché, quite arrogant guys who thought it was ok to be dicks.
“I remember after one gig they went and pissed in our dressing room, so we decided to get revenge by going to their dressing room while they were in ours and doing all their charlie!”
Motte recently released his Acid Tongue single ahead of his debut solo record, which features a contribution from Aussie drum'n'bass outfit Pendulum's Welsh member Peredur 'Perry' ap Gwynedd.
It wasn't the only Mower memory Motte brought up in the interview, he also recalls a night out with indie rock group British Sea Power.
“A funny time we had was when we played in British Sea Power, in Nottingham,” he said, “we were all off our heads, we headed up to Nottingham Castle and broke in – that was one crazy night!”
