Following numerous stints around Australia – as well as their maiden trip to the UK and Europe – in 2011, Melbourne hardcore act Hopeless has kept a relatively low profile for the first half of 2012.
Save for a handful of east coast shows and a slot on the Break The Ice Festival, the five-piece has spent the better part of the last six-months penning the follow up to their sold-out seven inch, Human.
During this time however, it was becoming obvious that vocalist Brett Sutton and the remaining members of Hopeless had differing ideas for where the new material should be heading, with Sutton subsequently parting ways with the group in late May.
Having finished the musical component of what’s set to be their second full- length effort, Hopeless turned to long time friend Mark Bawden of Break Even (who are of course playing their own farewell shows in Melbourne and Sydney this week, bringing their stint as one of Australia’s most-loved hardcore acts to an end) to fill the vacant vocalist role.
With Bawden now at the helm and immersed in the writing process, Hopeless will be wrapping up the sessions for the yet to be titled record in the coming weeks, which will be closely followed by label and release announcements.
Hopeless’ first shows with their retooled line-up will be taking place this August in Queensland, with additional dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth in the works.
