From Summer Bay to the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division
Australian actor and Home And Away alum Luke Mitchell has been cast in an "important" role as an Inhuman on Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The comics behemoth broke the news in a press release this morning (AEST), in which it explained that Mitchell, who is known abroad for his stint as John Young in CW vehicle The Tomorrow People, has been signed to fill the shoes of Lincoln, an Inhuman — an ancient race of empowered superhumans whose existence was historically a myth, and whose capital city has moved from the north Atlantic to the Andes, Himalayas, the moon and outer space. In comics canon, the Inhumans are led by Black Bolt, who dares not to speak aloud because so much as a whisper could shatter a mountain.
Mitchell's character will have "an important role to play" with respect to the character arc of main player Skye (Chloe Bennett), according to Marvel. Showrunner and Marvel head of television Jeph Loeb had a little more to say about Mitchell's involvement in the story, though it borders on being a spoiler if you're not totally up-to-date with the show — don't worry though, we've left that part behind closed doors for you.
"The charming energy Luke brings to the role, that will make him a character to watch as we continue our season," he said.
