Northern Sound System is revered throughout South Australia for their dedication to the creative adolescents of today. The youth centre, located in the northern suburb of Elizabeth, offers programs, courses, and workshops in various aspects of music production, as well as other artistic skills. It is a crucial institution in fostering creative passion amongst the younger South Australia generation - and they have a good track record. Notable alumni of the centre include Teenage Joans, Dem Mob, TOWNS, and Elsy Wameyo.

So, if you’re young and musical or know someone who is, what better centre is there to get involved with?

Northern Sound System are currently hosting Holiday Bands, an opportunity for young music enthusiasts aged 14-17 to join a band with like-minded creatives in their local area.

The program runs for one week every school holidays and is open to all styles and instruments, but focuses largely on a typical band setup (eg. drums, guitars, bass, keys, vocals) and original songwriting.

Registrations for their April program, which runs from Sunday April 13th to Thursday April 17th, are now open.

During the week, participants will join a band, pen original music, get involved in workshops, record in a studio with a professional engineer, experience a professional photoshoot, watch live performances at lunchtime gigs, and perform in their very own gig on the final night of the program.

The program will allow young people to truly experience the thrills of being a musician.
