More Hilltop Hoods More Hilltop Hoods

Celebrated Australian hip hop crew Hilltop Hoods will return to their hometown for a special performance at next year's Adelaide Clipsal 500, headlining the Friday-night festivities and rounding out an alluring entertainment program for March's event.

The lauded trio will be joined at the concert by their equally impressive contemporaries Seth Sentry, Funkoars and Aaradhna, all of whom are widely renowned around the country on their own merits as premier performers. It's a multi-faceted musical coup for the annual event, and South Australian tourism minister Leon Bignell is positively ebullient — off the back of a $70 million investment from the state government, no less — about what it represents for the region.

"Australians love Hilltop Hoods, and it will be incredible to have them rocking the Friday-night concert at Clipsal 500 Adelaide," Bignell said in a statement. "In 2016, Clipsal 500 Adelaide attracted a crowd of 263,500, generating a huge $65.6 million in expenditure. More than 13,500 interstate visitors came to South Australia for the event, and we want to grow that number even higher."

The addition of the local rap legends complements the similarly iconic Saturday-night fare, being provided in 2017 by the reformed Hunters & Collectors and newly announced additions Baby Animals.

The event will see a further two South Australian bands join the bill each night, though the state-local contingent is yet to be announced; those acts will be ascertained through the return of MusicSA initiative Bands On Track, which gives emerging SA acts the chance to land a support slot at Clipsal 500's awesome concerts.

The big to-do goes down from 2-5 March; Hilltop Hoods perform on Friday 3 March, with Hunters & Collectors and Baby Animals stepping out on Saturday 4 March.
