Hilltop Hoods Storm Towards #1 Debut In Midweek Charts

13 August 2014 | 11:31 am | Staff Writer

Adam Brand and The Kite String Tangle also put in excellent introductory efforts

Aussie hip-hop godfathers Hilltop Hoods look set to take out top spot in the end-of-week charts as their newest LP Walking Under Stars puts its best foot forward on the back of strong early sales and interest in recent single Won’t Let You Down, likely to make a northward leap this week.

Fellow debutant Adam Brand is shooting for a top-five entry with My Side Of The Street, while ascendant outfit The Kite String Tangle are all set to ease into the top ten with their Vessel EP.

Further first-timers include The Gaslight Anthem with Get Hurt, Porter Robinson’s Worlds, Richard Clapton retrospective Best Years 1974-2014: The 40th Anniversary Collection, and FKA TwigsLP1. Meanwhile, the Guardians Of The Galaxy soundtrack is angling towards another strong week, likely to gain a few spots by week’s end, as is RufusAtlas and Kasabian’s 48:13.

Over in the singles world, Sydney-bred DJ/brassman Timmy Trumpet is in a good way to make a top-fifteen or top-twenty debut with Freaks, while veteran pop personality Guy Sebastian and his new single Come Home With Me are also angling for the top-twenty. We’ll see Sam Smith’s I’m Not The Only One and Maroon 5’s It Was Always You make their inaugural chart appearances as well.

As for incumbents, Klingande (Jubel), AJR (I’m Ready), Lilly Wood & The Prick And Robin Schulz (Prayer In C), Nicki Minaj (Anaconda) and Itch (Another Man) are all set to variably climb the rungs by the time we see new results this weekend.
