The celebrated metal outfit will play a handful of shows Down Under before a special appearance across the ditch
Heavy metal raisers of hell High On Fire have announced an upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand booked for 2016.
Regarded one of the 21st century’s best metal bands, High On Fire formed in 1998 in the wake of the collapse of seminal doom outfit Sleep (for whom member Matt Pike played/plays guitar) and, in keeping with these metal traditions, are known for producing a flow of molten lava of monstrous riffs with a level of consistency for which Pike is well renowned as the mythology behind he and the High On Fire shows grows.
High On Fire is rounded out by the rhythm section of bassist Jeff Matz and drummer Des Kensel, and on their latest album, Luminiferous, the expected fury of High On Fire returns with a bizarre twist to be seen and heard. Indeed, their live sets are something to be witnessed only in the flesh.
High On Fire are set to 'crush skulls and melt faces' across Australia from Wednesday 17 February, when they kick off their local run at Perth's Rosemount Hotel. From there, they head through Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane (closing out their Aussie leg at Crowbar on 21 February) before hopping the ditch for a special appearance at Auckland's Kings Arms on Tuesday 23 February.
