Master of modern jazz Herbie Hancock has just been announced as the headliner of the 2019 Melbourne International Jazz Festival

Closing the festival at Arts Centre Melbourne, Hamer Hall this June, Hancock leads the 10-day celebration of jazz music and culture, which is set to feature more than 350 Australian, international and emerging artists.

“We are excited to make this early announcement and extremely honoured that Herbie Hancock is returning to Melbourne to close the festival," Melbourne International Jazz Festival Artistic Director Michael Tortoni said. 


"Our festival program will continue to offer a diversity of experiences that will showcase many outstanding Australian and international artists."

The first release of festival headline artists is due out later this month with the full festival program to follow in March. Keep an eye on theMusic.com.au for all the details as they emerge.
