'Dead Gorgeous' is out now

Ascendant Brisbane outfit Max Chillen & The Kerbside Collective have broken out from a period of hibernation with their debut EP in tow, and you can get it into you right now ahead of the release's launch at Black Bear Lodge this week.

Streaming now at the group's Bandcamp page, Dead Gorgeous comprises four tracks of Max Chillen & The Kerbside Collective's finely crafted 'glitter-punk' vibes — actually an apt description; good job, team — and follows earlier standalone cuts such as Vietnam (2015) and Treat Me Rough (2016) to pad out their growing catalogue.

The EP, Dead Gorgeous, was released just over a week ago, with production from Robert Hill and mastering by Cam Smith, of Incremental Records. It features a somewhat loose line-up — Backseat features guest sax from man-about-town Joe Saxby, while Reasons boasts a touch of synth courtesy Amber Ramsay (who also handled the majority of recording duties) and bassist Eric Boittier steps in on the four-string for Nothing Important (the remainder of the tracks are handled by Timothy Aird) — though it's not without its constants, with frontman and namesake Max Chillen (vocals, percussion), Robert Hill (guitar, vocals, percussion) and Gabriel Bautista (drums) staple presences throughout.

It's a little bit post-punk, a little bit art-rock, ultra-DIY and, above all, infectious as all get-out. Having already garnered a solid reputation for their live shows and a growing fan base, MCKC are all set to capitalise on their upwards trajectory and make 2017 a breakout year across the board.

Max Chillen & The Kerbside Collective will launch Dead Gorgeous at the Black Bear Lodge this Friday, 20 January. It's the last date on a li'l commemorative tour they've been plugging away on of late, having already knocked over shows in Melbourne and Newcastle in the lead-up to the grand finale this week.

They'll be joined by their mates in FeelsClub and First Beige, and the whole shindig will only cost you $10 at the door.

More information is available on the Facebook event page.
