The renowned electro whiz will release his eagerly awaited new album in spring this year

More Giorgio Moroder More Giorgio Moroder

Septuagenarian synth lord Giorgio Moroder is returning to the public consciousness with his first album in more than 20 years in 2015, and he's doing much to justify the hype ahead of its release by unveiling some strong early samples, such as Right Here, Right Now, his newly streamable collaboration with dance-pop vet Kylie Minogue.

The new cut follows previous preview and album title track 74 Is The New 24 as the next musical morsel to be gobbled up, all verse wah-bass and noodly disco guitar before the chorus pulls out the bottom end entirely preceding the all-important beat drop. It's more than competent; it's borderline undeniable, even for the most jaded anti-disco sad sacks out there.

74 Is The New 24 is slated for a spring 2015 release via Sony. The album will feature collaborations with the likes of Sia, Charli XCX, Foxes, and Britney Spears, among others.

Giorgio Moroder released his first album, beat-parade '68, in 1968, and went on to put out a further 20 records in the consequent 30 years. In that time, he also garnered a reputation as one of the foremost identities in the burgeoning electronic music scene back in the 1970s and '80s, and eked out a decent niche as a film scorer, grabbing an Oscar for his work on the soundtrack for 1978's Midnight Express and lending his composition and/or production talents to films from The Never Ending Story and Scarface to Flashdance and American Gigolo.
