More Drain More Drain

California-based party starters Drain have joined the Knotfest Australia line-up just days before the festival heads to Sydney.

Drain, a beloved hardcore band that debuted in Australia two years ago, has been frequently visiting since then. They are already Down Under to perform at the emo and alternative rock music festival New Bloom Fest. After the Brisbane event was cancelled due to Cyclone Alfred, the band ended up having a free day.

The Brisbane leg of New Bloom Fest was due to take place on Saturday, 8 March – the same day Knotfest lands at Sydney’s Centennial Park (New Bloom will still go ahead in Sydney and Melbourne). Drain were also scheduled to play a sideshow on the Sunshine Coast today with fellow festival act One Step Closer, but that gig has also been cancelled.

At Knotfest, Drain join heavy hitters of heavy music including Slipknot, A Day To Remember, BABYMETAL, Slaughter To Prevail, Polaris, Within Temptation, Enter Shikari, and more.

The band said of their appearance at the festival, “By a very wild turn of events - WE ARE PLAYING KNOTFEST SYDNEY!!!! Unfortunately, the cyclone has cancelled our Brisbane date of the New Bloom Festival and our Sunshine Coast show!

“Posted in Sydney for a few days til then - let’s go!!! Thank you @knotfestau for saving the day!!!”

After making their Australian debut in January 2023—supporting hardcore legends Comeback Kid, no less—Drain quickly returned in December of that year, and secured their spot on the New Bloom Fest line-up and locked in sideshows this year. The band have been touring Australia in support of their second album, Living Proof, released in 2023.

Vocalist Sammy Ciaramitaro said of the band’s December 2023 tour: “DRAIN’S GOING BACK DOWN UNDER! No Maxibon or Iced Long Black is safe!”
