"In case you didn’t hear me correctly, I almost f*cking died to be on this stage," Halsey said. "I’m going to play whatever the f*ck I wanna play."

Halsey has addressed a punter who told her to “stop talking and play,” responding from the stage and on social media.
The American indie pop singer was performing at Boston’s MGM Music Hall on Monday (3 November) when she took a moment to speak to the audience. It was then that a male concertgoer shouted, “Stop talking and play.”
Responding to them from the stage, Halsey said, “You think you’re tough shit because you’re from Boston? I’m from Jersey, baby. I’ll whoop your ass. My dad’s from Boston, my mom’s [sic] from Jersey—that basically makes me a fucking demon.”
They added, “I’m gonna play whatever the fuck I wanna play. In case you didn’t hear me correctly, I almost fucking died to be on this stage. I’m going to play whatever the fuck I wanna play.”
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter) after the show, Halsey addressed the incident, writing: “I’ve been polite but won’t be caught dead letting a man tell me what I should play in my set.”

In another post, they responded to a fan and said the punter told her to “stop talking and play,” and added that “there’s always one.”
You can see Halsey’s responses below.
Hours before Halsey took to the stage, the singer revealed that she’d been held overnight at the ER due to a “minor medical emergency.” She added that she had been hospitalised until 6 am, but informed fans that they were “A-Okay and ready to rock!”
The singer didn’t disclose the reason why they’d been hospitalised. However, Halsey has been open about undergoing chemotherapy while on tour following their diagnoses of lupus and a rare T-Cell lymphoproliferative disorder in 2022.
Halsey is currently celebrating ten years of her debut album on her Back To Badlands World Tour, which is set to land in Australia in February 2026. Due to extraordinary demand, additional dates have been added for Melbourne and Sydney.
Upon announcing the tour in September, Halsey wrote on social media: “A Badlands club tour. Tiny venues. GA floors. 10 years later. I’ve been waiting a decade to re-live it all over again with you.”
They added, “Badlands is an album I wrote about a terrifying and imprisoning state of mind. I was relieved and horrified to learn how many of you could relate. Ten years means 10 years that you’ve made it. You’ve done it. This day is for you and how far you have come.”
