Indigenous Australian singer/songwriter Gurrumul will be playing the iconic Amoeba Music in Berkeley, California this May.

Currently on tour in the US in support of his 2008 self-titled album, which has won two ARIA awards, he'll head to Amoeba on 9 May. While he's Stateside, he'll also stop by the New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Old Town School Of Folk Music in Chicago and a couple of other dates in California.

Born blind and showcasing exceptional music talent from a young age, Gurrumul has connected with people worldwide through his striking voice and transcendent stories about his 40,000 year old culture.

Having received Quincy Jones' seal of approval who says he has "one of the most unusual, emotional and musical voices" he has heardGurrumul has also played for US President Obama, The Queen of England and Crown Prince Frederik and Princess Mary of Denmark.
