With the 2016 AFL grand final less than two months away, celebrated Aussie music industry figure and Mushroom Group founder Michael Gudinski has given away as much as he can about the musical entertainment for the event, hinting that it will be an all-Australian bill.
Speaking on Triple M's The Hot Breakfast on Wednesday, Gudinski said the line-up should be announced in the coming weeks.
"I think people will be very happy this year," Gudinski said.
The producer of the grand final pre-game entertainment also addressed speculation that the bill will be made up of local acts.
"It’s looking that way," he said.
"The reason it’s taking a bit of time is there’s a possibility of a very, very special song and a very Australian meaning that could possibly encapsulate the ground."
Last year's headlining acts included Ellie Goulding, Bryan Adams and Chris Isaak, while the 2014 grand final featured performances from Ed Sheeran and Tom Jones.
Meanwhile, the Triple M breakfast team had a bit of fun teasing Gudinski, on the back of speculation that US legend Bruce Springsteen will be touring Australia sometime in 2017.
After telling the guys that he recently saw Paul McCartney in concert, Gudinski quickly had to hose down talk that he was trying to book the iconic Beatle for an Australian tour.
He laughed off the speculation, but added, "To be honest with you he has got to be the biggest one on the bucket list".
Shortly before hanging up, Mick Molloy quickly jumped in to ask Gudinski, "So let’s just get across this – we’re not announcing Paul McCartney, we’re not announcing Bruce Springsteen in February?" to which Gudinski replied, "Good bye!"
