It’s been a long time since they were last on Aussie shores – eight years in fact – so it makes sense that Green Day would kick off their latest Australian tour with a bang.

Launching their three-date visit to the country in Melbourne on Saturday, March 2nd, the Californian punk trio are in the midst of their Saviors tour, named for their 2024 album of the same name. Don’t let the name fool you though, it’s hardly a contemporary focus for the group, with the lion’s share of their shows being a retrospective look at their two biggest albums.

Celebrating 30 years since the release of the landmark Dookie album, and 20 years since the arrival of the ever-relevant American Idiot, the tour sees the group playing both albums in full, while still peppering in cuts from their wider catalogue.

Though Dookie and American Idiot are indeed the focus, fans of newer material aren’t neglected, with Saviors cuts The American Dream Is Killing Me, Bobby Sox, Dilemma, and One Eyes Bastard all getting a look-in. Even other favourites such as Minority, Brain Stew, Know Your Enemy, and the perennial Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) make it an affair to be remember.
