In devastating news for Green Day fans, the band’s final Australian show on their Saviors tour has been cancelled.

The show was set to take place tomorrow (5 March) at CBUS Super Stadium on the Gold Coast. The concert will no longer go ahead due to the impending arrival of the Category 2 Cyclone Alfred.

The natural disaster is expected to impact Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast on Thursday evening (6 March), bringing an estimated deluge of nine-metre waves and 700 millimetres of rain. Dangerous rains and winds are set to begin from tomorrow.

Yesterday (3 March), CBUS Super Stadium shared a statement on social media about windy and rainy conditions being forecast for the Gold Coast area in the coming days.

“We are monitoring the situation closely along with the tour promoters and will provide updates on our website as they become available,” the statement reads.

“Concert goers are encouraged to keep an eye on the weather and factor the conditions into their travel plans.”

The venue posted another statement today, before the show’s cancellation was announced, which read:

“In line with Queensland Government and City of Gold Coast guidance, CBUS Super Stadium is monitoring weather conditions and forecasts closely, along with tour promoters and emergency services.”

The statement concluded with the aim to provide another update with ticketholders at 2 pm AEST.

Green Day brought their Saviors tour to Melbourne and Sydney over the last week. They performed Dookie (celebrating its 30th anniversary) and American Idiot (celebrating its 20th anniversary) in their entirety to packed-out stadiums, as well as hits from other albums and singles from their latest album, Saviors.
