Green Day Guitarist Diagnosed With Cancer

Jason White has a treatable form of tonsil cancer

More Green Day Green Day Profile

Current Green Day guitarist Jason White has been diagnosed with a form of tonsil cancer.

The band posted an official statement regarding the news on their Facebook account earlier today, confirming White had been diagnosed, though the form of cancer is treatable.

"We have some news to report regarding our brother Jason White, and wanted you to hear it from us before word spread. Jason recently underwent a routine tonsillectomy, and his doctors discovered a treatable form of tonsil cancer. Thankfully they caught it early and he should make a full and speedy recovery.

"Please join us in sending him love and positive healing vibes during this time."

White was a touring member of American punk rock mainstays for a number of years until 2012, when he officially became the fourth member of the group.
