The ascendant songstress also has a new single to share
Prodigious songstress Gordi has yet another feather to add to her cap after being named as the newest signing to the Liberation Music stable of acts in the lead-up to her debut EP's release next month.
The new signing comes on the back of a spate of home runs for the emergent chanteuse, who signed two international booking deals in January, following that up by signing to US indie powerhouse Jagjaguar in February. Her inclusion under Liberation's purview will now see her represented by the label in Australia and New Zealand, joining their existing cabal of acts including Adalita, Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Slum Sociable, The Temper Trap and Vance Joy.
Between the signing and the EP's imminence, Gordi (aka Sophie Payten) has much cause to celebrate — and, to that end, she's unveiled a new single in the form of the ethereal electro-folk of Wanting. It's a stunning arrangement, as minimalist, glitch-flecked acoustic guitar and layered vocals slowly crescendo and widen to make room for the addition of synthesised bass and uplifting, driving drums to the mix, among several other sonic elements and touches. There's a lot to unpack and love here, and it's a track that rewards multiple plays, so best get started on that now:
Wanting, like Nothing's As It Seems and Alfalfa before it, will feature on Gordi's forthcoming debut EP, titled Clever Disguise and due for release via Liberation Music on Friday 13 May. It features six tracks, and is available for pre-order now.

Aussie fans will have limited chances to see Gordi in action over the next little while — she's got four shows (two each in Brisbane and Melbourne) with Of Monsters & Men later this month and early next, before she sets off for a run of shows in the UK with Highasakite (and at the Great Escape festival) throughout May and hits the US in late May and early June.
