“An hour of support and solidarity from the comfort and safety of your couch!”
Set to take place at the end of the month, Gold Coast Music Awards will be presented online this year due to COVID-19.
The announcement arrives as finalists are unveiled, with blues and roots outfit Hussy Hicks picking up five nominations, while Busby Marou, Casey Barnes, IVEY and Hollow Coves are also up for multiple awards.
“The music scene on the coast is pumping and keeps on kicking. Despite the madness going on around the world right now, it's comforting to see these awards forging ahead to recognise and celebrate artists when we need it most,” Busby Marou’s Tom Busby said.
Gold Coast Music Awards director, Samantha Morris noted: “The music industry was one of the first to really feel the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic, and we were hit hard here on the Gold Coast. Our economy is largely driven by events.
“While we can’t hold a big, face to face awards ceremony, we think it is really important to bring the community together, virtually at least, to acknowledge and celebrate the creative gold that continues to come out of this City.
