Ghost inspire new burger, Catholics unhappy

A Chicago based heavy metal themed restaurant has created a new burger inspired by the band Ghost. However, the implementation hasn’t gone entirely smoothly, with certain people taking offence to the creation. A Chicago based heavy metal themed restaurant has created a new burger inspired by the band Ghost. However, the implementation hasn’t gone entirely smoothly, with certain people taking offence to the creation.

As the Chicago Tribune reports, the meal - created at Kuma's Corner - is a “10-ounce burger topped with a red wine reduction and an unconsecrated communion wafer.”

Subsequently, some patrons have become upset with the symbolism.

"It's not the Eucharist, but it's still symbolic. For us as Catholics, the Eucharist is more than a symbol, it's a sacrament. At the same time, it doesn't mean that symbols aren't important. … It is a mockery of something that is holy. The same thing could be said of the band itself,” Jeff Young, producer of the Catholic Foodie blog said.

Ghost are enjoying the unintended publicity, writing the following on Facebook:

Okay Mortals, it's the first of the month and we are proud to announce the following:

In the spirit of our undying reverence for the lord and all things holy, we give you the Ghost which we think is a fitting tribute to the supreme blasphemous activities carried out by the band itself.

10oz patty

Ghost chile aioli

Slow braised Goat shoulder

Aged white cheddar cheese

Red Wine Reduction (the blood of christ)

with Communion Wafer garnish (the body of christ)
