Calling all exhibitionist art lovers: the Sydney Dance Company and Sydney Festival want you to strip off, all in the name of culture.
Australia’s flagship contemporary dance troupe will celebrate the sculptural beauty of the human form in Nude Live, a partnership with the Art Gallery of New South Wales and its major summer exhibition, Nude: art from the Tate collection.
But just to up the ante, at a special performance on 23 Jan, it won’t just be dancers and the sculptures that will be naked – the audience will be too. At the strictly 18+ performance, announced today, ticket holders will be asked to strip off and bare all.
Choreographed by the company’s award-winning artistic director, Rafael Bonachela, the program will feature danced responses to artworks celebrating the human body by artists including Rodin, Picasso, Matisse and Lucian Freud.
