Geelong Metal Upstarts ORB Announce August Tour & New Single

29 July 2016 | 2:41 pm | Staff Writer

The trio's debut LP 'Birth' is out now

Emergent three-piece outfit ORB have announced a run of tour dates to support their recently released debut album Birth, preceding the sojourn with the unveiling of the video clip for new single Reflection.

Kicking off on Friday 12 August at The Tote, in Melbourne, ORB will be plugging their record with an in-store at Geelong's Real Music Records; The Eastern, in Ballarat; dual shows at Perth's 459; and rounding out with a big-league showing at Sydney's impending Volumes Festival on Saturday 27 August.

Birth is only five tracks long but runs northwards of 40 minutes thanks to the song's longer-than-usual run times (only one track falls under the six-minute mark, and its closer runs for more than sixteen), providing ample room for the musicians of ORB to flex their muscles and show off their genre-hopping chops in the process.

There's a solid reason that the most frequent point of comparison for this band's tunes is early Black Sabbath, yet there's a distinct voice all their own as heavy metal, fuzz-rock, doom, and even prog licks converge and collide over the record's deep and colourful soundscape.
