Garbage Singer Shirley Manson Halts Concert To Confront Crowd Fight

Garbage singer Shirley Manson was forced to intervene in a recent altercation at a concert at the 2023 instalment of KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas on December 10.

During the performance of Wolves — the third song of their set — Manson became aware of a disturbance among the audience before taking charge of the situation.

Manson reportedly said: “Turn this shit off right the fuck now…What the fuck is wrong with you? Fuck this shit. I don’t know ladies, I don’t know what the fucking story is; quite frankly, I don’t care.”

She continued: “There’s enough fucking bullshit in this world…Do we not have enough fucking bullshit in this world without going fucking aggro and some fucking Christmas party?”

“Security, I’d like you to get your fucking asses in there and find out what the fuck is going on. I don’t want anyone to get hurt… Let’s fucking sort it out. We have 30 fucking minutes on this stage and you’re eating into it. So fucking get it sorted. I don’t have patience for this shit.”

Amid cheers from the crowd, Garbage went on to play through their set.

Though it is unclear what exactly Manson was halting the show for, the audience member in question later called into KROQ’s The Kevin / Ally Show on to explain the drama.

“It wasn’t what Shirley thought it was,” said the caller, Amanda.

“It was actually me defending myself and my girlfriend because there was this one girl who was just torpedoing her way through the front rows. And when she came in and she’s pushing her way through, and she’s pushing my girlfriend out of the way and then her hands in my face, I’m gonna defend myself.”

She continued, "I didn't mean to interrupt the show. I'm a huge Garbage fan and I was really pissed that that happened. Everyone in the audience was so chill and all of a sudden you have this rude drunk girl coming through like a tornado.”

“I felt like I got yelled at by my mum,” she explained of Manson intervening for intervening.
