More industry hype for the Sydney group.
One would expect you're about to start hearing a lot about Sydney band Gang Of Youths, if the amount of industry attention they've been receiving is any indication. The latest news that has come through is word that the band have signed an exclusive publishing deal with the Universal Music Publishing Group.
“Gang of Youths are special,” Heath Johns, UMPG's Director of A&R said in a statement today. “They are an incredibly dynamic live band with an arsenal of powerful and masterfully crafted tunes. Dave Le'aupepe is a star and a songwriter with rare talent. We are incredibly pleased that Gang of Youths have chosen to sign with UMPG.”
You can expect a new record from the band in the next couple of months as the band are just about ready to put the finishing touches on it in an upstate New York studio with renowned indie producer Kevin McMahon (The Walkmen, Titus Andronicus, Real Estate, Swans).
The band have focused a lot of energy on getting their name out there in overseas market of late, and they will continue to do that for the foreseeable future with shows at SXSW and in the UK lined up to follow up the buzz they're receiving in the press over there.
