Kickstart your career at the free FReeZACentral music industry workshops this September and October! Workshops throughout Victoria focus on career advice and pathways into performance, event management, music business, technical production and stage management.

The 2010 FReeZACentral Workshops series kick off next week in Mornington on September 7 before heading to Geelong, Melbourne, Ballarat, Mildura, Gippsland and Wangaratta.

Registrations are filling up fast, head to www.freezacentral.vic.gov.au ASAP to secure your spot. Places are limited!

FReeZACentral’s Project Manager Sarah De Borre says, “By attending the workshops, young people will gain valuable advice from music industry professionals to help them along their path into the music industry. On board is Michael Crafter (Confession), Megan Washington, reps from Big Day Out, Soundwave and heaps more! Whether they’re an artist or want to work behind the scenes, FReeZACentral can help them!”

Just by attending, young people are also eligible to apply for the FReeZACentral Mentoring Program for 2011 which sees 50 successful applicants paired with their dream mentors over a six month period to assist their creative, personal and professional development. As part of the program, this year’s mentees worked on Push Over Festival, Apollo Bay Music Festival, Escape To Oz compilation and tour (in partnership with Blunt Magazine) and Naked in the Woods 2 launch and compilation (out in October on triple j magazine).

“Through this year’s FReeZACentral program we’ve been able to launch the careers of artists to around 50,000 music lovers around the country, and numerous music industry mentees have secured internships and employment through their mentors,” she says.

“We look forward to meeting the next crop of FReeZACentral mentees at the upcoming workshops in September /October and look forward to be able to extend the amazing opportunities of the program to more young people in 2011,“ says De Borre, “ and we’ve already received an amazing response to this year’s workshops.”
