Foo Fighters Hint At Australian Shows

26 May 2014 | 1:18 pm | Staff Writer

No one likes a tease, fellas

More Foo Fighters More Foo Fighters

Beloved US rock icons Foo Fighters have taken to Facebook to slyly suggest that they may soon be on their way to Australia and New Zealand, three years after they were last here.

In the post - ostensibly a link promoting this year's forthcoming eighth album - they're all friendly from the outset, calling us "pals" and being all, "It's been WAYYY too long," before encouraging fans to sign up for Foo Fighters updates in the lead-up to the album's release, because they "never know where/when the Foos may show up. Just sayin..."

Do you see that? That is not a polite way for a band to behave. But it does give Aussie and Kiwi Foos fans a spark of hope that they might just get a visit from Dave Grohl and co. in the near future.

Fittingly, the band's eighth album, for which HBO is producing a documentary series, saw one song recorded each in the eight cities of Chicago, Austin, Nashville, Los Angeles, Seattle, New Orleans, Washington, DC, and New York, directly tapping in to the cultural history through basing themselves at iconic studios in each. The series and sense of majesty surrounding the album are all tied in to the band's ongoing 20th-anniversary celebrations this year.

The album should drop about September-November.
