Foo Fighters Confirm Eighth Album Release Date

Still no title yet, though

For a band that doesn't yet even have a title for its next album, US rock legends Foo Fighters have been making a lot of noise about it recently, with the latest development coming in the form of confirmation that the group's forthcoming eighth LP will be released in November via Sony Music.

The announcement follows the revelation this weekend past of a special teaser trailer for the band's new HBO series Foo Fighters: Sonic Highways, which boasts not just an exclusive message from Dave Grohl but the first tastes of tuneage taken from the record.

The series, part of the band's wider 20th-anniversary celebrations, is designed to reflect the album's incubation, which saw the Foos travel to eight separate cities across the United States – Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles, Nashville, New Orleans, New York, Seattle and Washington, DC – and provide a way for the band to chronicle, in Grohl's words, “a journey to unravel the fabric of our musical identity … not only the making of our most ambitious album”.

There is presently no word on whether it will receive an Australian airing or not, but keeping in mind Foo Fighters' recent hints that they could be headed Down Under way in the near future, it would be foolhardy to write off its likelihood at this advent.
