Fontaines D.C. Reveal Laneway Festival Sideshows

Fontaines D.C. play their biggest shows to date in Australia as they head to Adelaide and Perth, and headlining Laneway Festival 2027.

Irish rockers Fontaines D.C. may headline next year’s Laneway Festival alongside Hayley Williams, but unlike in previous years, they’ll play two arena sideshows alongside their headlining slot.

The 2027 edition of Laneway isn’t heading to Adelaide and Perth, but that doesn’t mean its acts aren’t. In fact, Fontaines D.C.’s upcoming sideshows take place in both cities. The band will perform at Perth’s RAC Arena on Tuesday, 9 February, and Adelaide’s AEC Arena on Wednesday, 17 February.

For their festival sideshows, the Starburster hitmakers will be joined by fellow Irish outfit Gurriers, who are also playing at Laneway.

Artist pre-sale tickets – from Fontaines D.C.’s website – will be available from 11 am local time on Wednesday, 7 October. The Handsome Tours and Spotify pre-sale open on Thursday, 8 October, at 11 am local time, followed by the general sale on Friday, 9 October, at 11 am local time.

The band returns to Australia after releasing their forthcoming album, Dopamine Chamber, on Friday, 16 October.

For album #5, Fontaines D.C. teamed up with producer James Ford. So far, fans have heard the luscious lead single, Marianne, and Tongue is arriving this week. Frontman Grian Chatten said of the inspirations behind the record, “The album itself is a dopamine chamber. You step inside, and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”

Dopamine Chamber follows a string of impressive albums from the Irish band, from their post-punk beginnings – 2019’s Dogrel and 2020’s A Hero’s Death – to their more kaleidoscopic releases, 2022’s Skinty Fia and 2024’s Romance.

The new album is hailed as their “most radical turn yet.” Commenting on their experimental direction, Chatten added, “There’s a poignant sense of us being on the brink of some other kind of form of humanity, or non-humanity.”

Fontaines D.C. last toured Australia in March 2025. Their upcoming run marks their largest shows in the region to date, and their first-ever festival headline slot in Australia and New Zealand.
